Hosu

One of Patricia Urquiola's most recent completed works, her concept for these chairs is mobility that you can spread out on. As work moves around, it often needs to spread out. She pictured using this system at home, universities, hotel rooms, even in creative business environments.

Hosu encourages spreading out. This unique single seat or sofa is meant to provide one with a comfortable personal space to relax and productive. The seat folds out and transforms the Hosu into an ultra lounger to spread out legs as a footbed. The sofa seats two, comfortably bringing two people together even if they are focused on different tasks.

Both seats feature rear and side storage pockets and allows cable to pass through. Whether its for computer, ipad or phone, the cable pass through allows one to continue working without having to get up to charge at a different location. These are offered in six exclusive colours  that will productively improve any environment!

  1. This seat/sofa looks very comfortable. I spend a lot of time on my bed doing my homework and it's hard on my back! I hate working at the desk because sitting on the chair for long hours gets tiring and you do start to get restless. If i could sprawl my homework and lounge on this seat, I think I'd get lots of homework done. There's room to move and if you need a little nap, you can close your eyes and sleep on the seat. It's upright enough so you don't find yourself constantly nodding off.

I would say that the concept that Patricia had for this design is somewhat similar to Marcel Wanders. They both create designs that are functional but are unique, timeless and beautiful. Also, I find that they both design for the people. Alot of designers design because they want to show off what they can do but they forget about who they're designing for. In this case, Patricia and Marcel always think about their consumers. They focus on how this seat is going to be used, how comfortable it is, where it may be used, what the person needs to fall in love with the chair. And I think that's what gets people to fall in love with these two designers. Who wouldn't fall in love with those who put their consumers first? I know I do.

  2. Its cool how Patricia incorperates comfort and its aesthetics with how it will be used and incorperating todays latest technology. Its really annoying when your are sitting or lying comfortably on the couch with your computer or ipad and the battery dies and you have to get up to get the charger or get up to find an outlet. That makes this generation sound really lazy but its true! So having that accomidation your furniture is very handy. what kind of materials are these sofas available in? Are there a veriety of colours to choose from?

  3. Tiffany,
I found so many similarities with Patricia and Marcel as well! There are reason why they are so well adorned! They really always think about how their consumers will feel while experiencing their designs. I think they are on to something good there that we can learn from......

    Stephanie,
It comes in one textured fabric, I believe, but it also comes in 6 colors, and also you can customize your own!
